Hi all

Ongoing personal experiences of maltreatment of prehistoric sites - particularly in respect of fly-tipping in South Wales, something which appears to have grown to reach endemic proportions - suggests a need for an ongoing thread to log incidents/responses from authorities... e.g:

If the Eds are ok with this it might well give us the opportunity to follow up other members' enquiries and start applying pressure upon local authorities to do something. Not sure what that something is, but guess the first step is to highlight the problems and keep at it.

I think Carl contacted CADW about this one:

Good plan. Maybe precede each one with the name of the body that needs to know, CADW, HS etc and then we could (all) send them a link to the thread periodically, a sort of mass nag.

Sad to say but some prat has chiseled their name into Maen Llia on it's Eastern face . TD are the initials , in several places , as once wasn't seemingly enough. I think I know what the letters stand for , and the first word is "total".
On another note, the fence that I thought was permanent has been removed ,so much for my certainty then.

Currently on a weeks explorations of the western end of Galloway.. three defiied sites not on TMA - but will be when I get back and sort pix - one cairn with a big obelisk recently plonked on top, one major triple ditch earthwork with ongoing severe erosion by livestock, one stone with a huge silage store freshly put a foot away - really - and one TMA site, Whirlpool fallen stone, which, like Carl, I couldnt find despite damn good look. Really wondering if its been removed : ( Thankfully found some fab places too to compensate.

The locality of Skelpick in general, in particular:

How the locals are allowed to get away with this - the accumulated rubbish is obviously household, not fly tipping from vans etc - is beyond me.

Anyone suggest an e-mail address of a body that might actually take this seriously?

Collie na Borgie, too... my own experiences some time back supported by notes from Carl and Postie.

Thought I'd give this a 'bump' since 2020 lockdowns may well have given certain lower elements of society carte-blanche, so to speak. Stonehenge may have its legions of warriors, but who is looking out for the 'little guys' upon moor and hilltop?
