Seconded about Wheeldale Road. Plenty of tumuli on the moortops with fine views. The two large scale OS maps of the national park are a must. Rudston monolith isn't too far a drive from Whitby. Well worth it. F+C at the Brown Room in Filey on the way back : )

Or The Magpie Cafe, supposed to be the finest in the land, (mushy peas, bread and butter, pot of tea and F+C) though Fusco's are pretty good as well...

.. Filey Brig. Doubtless a fortified and occupied site for millenia. Great views to Scarborough and Flamborough Head too
