Be careful on Bodmin. I went a wondering all over the place a few years ago visiting everything I fancied thinking it was open access land, it isn't.
I bumped into a fairly friendly farmer who put me right. Most farmers don't mind you wandering around, but he warned me of a few who were non to pleased about it. Might be judicious to knock on a door or two just to let your presence/ intentions be known. There is access to a few areas through the National Trust, Forestry Commision et al (Rough Tor/ Logan Tor etc...great places at sunset) but most is still under private ownership.

Anyhoo, have fun whilst up there, it's not as remote as Exmoor or Dartmoor, and at night your ringed with vehicle lights, village lighting and TV Masts, but it's still a great place littered with plenty of evidence of prehistory. Stacks of those lovely ponies all over the shop too.

Thanks for the warning, we will have a good guide in Sanctuary in some places I think, he knows this area very well. It is an area that is intriguing with its tors, and ever since I read in 'Stone Worlds' about the Leskernick settlement, I have wanted to get to know Bodmin Moor better; maybe we will even do a little house hunting down there;)
First time we went, a mare and foal trotted across the road in front of the car very bedraggled from the rain, and there are plenty on the moor, though whether they are looked after properly I don't know.
