I don't envy the guys working up at Minions today on the Mapping the Sun project. I only live 5 miles away and it's been hissing down all day and blowing a hoolie! Bodmin moor is not a place to be in wet and windy weather. I bet the Cheesewring pub was popular though:-)
The excavation begins tomorrow for the quartz pavement but thankfully the forecast is for a dry, but still windy day.

I got very excited when I heard about this in a previous thread, mostly because I got the month wrong and thought I'd be in the area when I wouldn't be! Would love to do the sunrise Hurlers walk but perhaps I'll get up there early next time I'm in Liskeard. Please report on how it all goes. Even Radio Cornwall are mentioning this event...

I have been to see it today and there are a few photos here.

The project has just been featured on BBC Spotlight for the region and they centred very much on the triangular stone and possible heavenly alignments. The moment I saw that stone I was a happy boy as I am currently writing about the circles on the moor that feature triangular stones, which is all of them so far with just one more to visit!
