Fwiw , TSC I didn't start driving until I was 50 , and stopped being a veggie after nearly 30 years of vegginess . Returning to full time vegginess would be easy and I probabaly will but I must admit to being addicted to petrol .

I think if I lived in Scotland I would probably force myself to learn, despite the dislike of the idea. There's too much to see that can't be reached otherwise.
