It's not usually the done thing to link to threads at the other place or vice versa but this is too good not to highlight or to run a discussion in tandem over here. http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=Forum&file=viewtopic&topic=5856&forum=4

The ideas is to rate theories on a scepticism scale with 0 being entirely convincing up to 10 which means totally unconvincing. It's quite a cat-amongst-the-pigeons exercise regarding the theories of some of the professionals....

I'll start. Warren Field. 8.....

I didn't know it wasn't the done thing to post links to Megalithic Portal - why is that I wonder. No point in me taking part in such an exercise, am probably too gullible. I'm one of George's biggest fans but its sounds like they've appointed him as a stand in for god over there. A lot of what gets discussed is speculative and subjective so scoring credibility is a bit pointless really.

Anyone remember (a couple of years ago} the American guy who reckoned the stones were built as a giant windmill? Another 10 I think.

Geoffrey of Monmouth, in his 'History of the Kings of Britain' says that the stones that make up Stonehenge came from Mount Killarus (the Hill of Uisneach). This was after Pendragon and 15,000 men were sent to defeat the king, Gillomanius. They brought the stone back with the help of Merlin.
