Of course we have to keep banging on about these things until the message gets through that they are totally, totally unacceptable. I’m surprised you even ask the question.
Except of course that the members of this forum are already convinced of the argument against climbing, or else set in a contrary opinion that's unlikely to change. Gotta say, it's a bit like Groundhog Day where this issue is concerned. I don't think it's helpful in the context of this forum.

Only a few days ago Chance posted a pic of some dickhead standing on Avebury’s Diamond Stone while someone else took his photograph. A few years ago scubi told some German visitors to stop climbing another of the Avebury stones. Quite a lot of us here have done the same in the hope that people will see that what they’re doing is unacceptable and attitudes, consequently, will change.
Preaching to the masses is a little different though. Mind you, I'm not sure it helps to think of people as "dickheads" just because they're uneducated regarding conservation. A lot of people simply don't realise the capacity their actions have to cause damage. Obviously there are some wilfully selfish idiots out there, but most stone-climbers at Avebury are just ignorant through no fault of their own.

Which rather supports my argument that keeping things 'on the front page’ leads to a greater awareness of the issue and (hopefully) a change in attitudes. Those here who find the issue boring etc can do the simple thing and not read the thread :-)

(I was going to use a stronger word but dickhead will do for the time being ;-)
