Looks like neither of us can spell it, seems it's pareidolia :) But as I understand it you do have to have something there to see (or hear) to start with, it's just you might then elaborate it / misinterpret it.

Anyway it's all right, I do believe rock art exists. Having a human tendency to see circles in things egged on by helpful lichens and shadows is probably a good way of spotting something faint but real. Better get out the torches and a thick bit of material, HSD...

Where it occurs in rock art it is seeing patterns within the markings , when the patterns are a product of your imagination . Being unsure ,as in this case , whether the markings are really there or not might be closer to constructive paranoia i.e. your paranoia may well be justified but you are at least aware of the possibility that it might all be in your imagination .
