Cheers Carl. Yes, can't beat a good LB..! Waylands Smithy was the first I ever visited, age 17, a long time before I got into the whole subject. Left its mark though.

Talking of which, anybody know the nearest Sarsen drift to Waylands?
Where did those huge facade stones come from?

Living in Ashbury (in a cotty with Sarsen foundations) and Waylands being my turn-around point on my evening walkies, I know this landscape very well. The nearest Sarsen drift is a huge deposit outside Ashdown House. That said, the whole area is littered with them. Neighbors/Farmers/Allotmentors constantly finding 6 to 10 footers in their patches. Good little crop in Winslow Combe too.

Hello all by the way. Timidly dipping a toe in the TMA pool after watching from the bank for a few years now. Taught and tempted me lots it has.
