I can imagine the situation in ancient times when a visitor from another part of Britain would be shown around and told that this is 'how we build 'em round here!'

They are a great place to visit.

Cheers Carl. Yes, can't beat a good LB..! Waylands Smithy was the first I ever visited, age 17, a long time before I got into the whole subject. Left its mark though.

Talking of which, anybody know the nearest Sarsen drift to Waylands?
Where did those huge facade stones come from?
