Sorry Mustard, the guy was an asshole and a bully, and if pushed to take sides I'd be on the side of the eds and thesweetcheat on this. That's not to say that I'm afraid of debating with him. I'm on the record as having said "let him come back".
If anything I've said makes me "cliquish and judgemental", I'll be expecting a dollop of your "Tolerance and understanding" lest my male ego takes a dent.
Cheers, and meet you out in the stones.
A bully? Seriously? Seemed to me like he was always the one being ganged up on (rightly or wrongly). That's a funny kind of bullying.
I remember before Nigel and Littlestone fell out - they were pairing up to attack anyone who they disagreed with. I was actually accused of being a troll with no interest in the subject of this site simply because I held a differing opinion - despite the fact that I have a website documenting my site visits from Cornwall to Orkney. I didn't hear many people speaking out against them as bullies though.
Because I do practice what I preach, it's water under the bridge and don't bang on about it or expect to see them banned. It's only being mentioned on this one occasion because of its extreme relevance.
The rule of thumb here seems to be that it's OK to be a bully, so long as you're an articulate and subtle bully. But if you're working class and not academic or literate, then watch out.
