Uplighters for the stones ! Excellent idea. Maybe some padding for the devils chair too, can be cold on the arse sat there at night.

I don't think too many people will pay much attention to this article. The Swindon Advertiser is a parochial publication and always gives space to local people and local stories. The elderly Eric Cooke is a Swindon resident so even though his book is fanciful and ill informed they have given him an airing.

Swindon is home to English Heritage and the National Trust head quarters - if they were quoted expressing such visions for the future I'd be worried.

Well I like the cut of their jibs. What about a sky train too? And maybe each of the stones could be given coats and hats and then sculpted in the likeness of famous figures associated with Avebury - Stukeley, Keiller and of course Ol' Stonekiller (grimacing wickedly). After all, the Govt. (Mr Cameron and his friend Mr Wimpey) forced (presumably) EH to change the definition of conservation to "the process of managing change" and it's quite probable the original builders would approve of anything we do if we postulate they would.
