If you can get hold of an old map of the area it may tell you more (even a modern ordance survey map might have it marked as a feature). alternatively ask the parkie!( if there is one)

Do they still have Parkies?
I thought they all died out in some apocalyptic event ( Thatcherism, rings a bell).
We used to have a beauty parkie called Harry Honda who used to shoot around Albert Park on a C90. He looked like a bulldog chewing a wasp and was permanently radged.
I'm ashamed to say we used to torture the poor ould bugger mercilessly.
Ah..... them were the days
