I feel a bit stoopid asking this question but here goes. I was sort of watching Nicholas Crane's Britannia: the great Elisabethan Journey ealier this evening. I admit I wasn't giving it my fall attention until I heard him talking to a local witch - they were in a part of Scotland where there are dozens of stone circles/monoliths and walked over to the Jury Stone. This is an ancient stone where trials took place, including witch trials (apparently over 600 women burned as witches).

Problem is I can't find any record of this stone either here or on the internet. Can you help Branwen ... sorry for not paying greater attention.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Oh, having a duh moment. Two miles roughly west and south of Grantully Castle was "The Courthill" marked by a large stone, where legal matters were settled, rents collected, and service rendered. This stone is the Jury Stone of the Court Hill? If it is, I suppose the name dates to the date of the charter setting up the courts, though I suppose an older court might have been held there too.
