Well wot a jaunt that was. Absolutely superb stuff!! Met up with several very decent folk round Avebury and had the pleasure of being guided around by that heinous fella, Pete Glastonbury! His knowledge of the area is truly exceptional. Is there
anyone down there who knows his stuff as good as that chap? (I'd be amazed if there is!) The sooner he writes a guide-book to the area, the better, as I can't see anyone doing even half as good a job.
Although we missed-out on the Pimms (!), the wine and the company were exceptional. Only wish we'd have had another few days down there to be shown all the other hidden gems in the neighbourhood.
I was quite taken aback at how many sites there are in the region which aint in the archaeo's books. Anyway - just a huge thanx to PeteG, MegaD (without whom we'd have never arrived!), June, Steve, BB and the rest. Truly look forward to being round there again, but for a longer period, sometime next April if we can - when we can hopefully find some more cup-markings!
