Its a shame that such a beautiful river as the Kennet is at the mercy of development, especially when members of Ark work on maintaining it..

This is the relevant organisation that seems to be in the forefront of protecting the River Kennet. Expansion by Swindon has always been a problem, I would have thought that with the universities pulling out of the Coate Water business, house building would seem to be on hold.
Ark seem to have run a campaign in June, with letters etc

I have to admit I was shocked when I read this report today as I always thought Swindon's water was supplied by Thames Water drawn from an underground reservoir north of the town. I wonder where Marlborough gets its water from.

Believe me, there are plenty of people who live in Swindon who don't want further expansion. As I am sure you know the petitian to save the land at Coate was signed by 55,000 people.
