Hi Bawn,
It's a piece of photography kit, bought it for figuring out sunrise and sunset shots (if the composition isn't going to work, stay in bed).

£16 from 7dayshop.com

Dunno how accurate this little so and so would be though. I can't see any of them getting around intervening hills etc. A photograph and something like Red Sky would do a better job.

Neither can we.

If memory serves, it was in our plans but weather and contingencies (like the exhaust falling off the camper we were living out of) lost us a few days and we had to edit our itinerary in Ireland somewhat, much to our regret. We'll have to go back and do an Irish 'Special' one day!

Hi Bawn
you don't want to get us started on what we left out! I still haven't got over the Crannogs (cue for post from Mike saying "pull yourself together Soskin).

You see, I had this vision of rolling mists over Loch Awe... close up of oar cutting through swirling mist and water... me rowing out to a crannog and rabbiting about thousands of years of people living on the loch bla bla.

Basically Britain was underwater at the time and despite exploring every inch of the perimeter of the loch, the best sight of any crannog was a lone twig sticking out of the water... gutted!

and then there's....... no, stop

aaaaaaaand breeeaathe...
