Happy new year to all!

Can one of you kind folks here point me in the direction of a glossary for formatting text on the website. I have some fieldnotes that are rapidly descending into a blog that uses quotes from various books and I want to bold and italicise the quotes and book titles. I've seen a glossary before but never bookmarked the page. Maybe glossary is not the term, but it's the [ ] square bracket thingy that is commonly used around here.
