As the 400D built-in flash is pretty crap you could always buy a decent one like the Canon EX580 and you will find a remote trigger system for it quite handy too, then there's various filters and optical effects you can get. A good quality tripod and/or monopod is a must, not to mention a bigger camera bag with loads of pockets and straps, Battery Power Grip, additional Flash Memory, have I mentioned a wide angle lens.......
