Well he did mention it often worked but put it down to the greater time taken with the patients, which I assumed was right.

If it is then the obvious thing would be to use the money to improve face-to-face consultation in the rest of the system.

Are you suggesting that the funding is pulled from the hospital? If so I find that attitude quite bizarre. Surely if something works then you should invest in it.
Improving face to face consultation may be part of the answer but only a small part. One of the main problems with the western medical model is that it treats the condition and not the individual. Western medicine is increasingly taking on board ideas based around a more holistic approach to illness, this is the way to progress.
If value for money is your concern then you would be better focussing on how the health agenda is driven by the pharmaceutical industry.
