Couldn't disagree with that.For a book, best intro is Beckensall's British Prehistoric Rock Art. There are many others, like Paulus says, the BRAC list is pretty much spot on, but Stan's one is probably the best for service as a gazetteer, but still with enough info to give a good background.
Look for sites close to where you live, you should be able to find a book dedicated to that area, ask questions, visit the sites and enjoy.
You will find many good and special rock art carvings in all of the places mentioned above, and in time once added to TMA we shall see the similarities between the British rock art and the carvings in Europe.
