hill forts is anybody there ?????????
Hi bean,

Where have you been, old bean? Sorry bad joke :-)

Just to echo previous posters, I like visiting hillforts too.

My favourites if you ever make it north are the Clwydian Range forts. Hiraddug (near Prestatyn), Y Gaer (Bodfari), Penycloddiau (massive), Arthur (perfectly formed), Y Gaer (Llanbedr - very nice) and finally the majestic Fenlli.

What were hiilforts? Don't ask me. Must have taken some building and it's a bit chilly up there for a des res. Though I think maybe the Clwydian Range forts were the frontline between the evil Deceangi and the noble Ordovices to the west. Just my 2p.

In Cheshire Iv'e been to all the hillforts around not impressive as theres barely a half dozen, but been to many in N.Wales tre'r Ceiri is the most impressive and awsome hillfort Iv'e ever seen, "City of the Giants" it really is

Thanks for the joke ha ha. Plan to do the south wales thing next year looks very intresting !!!!. Havent been to many hillforts at mo, but my two fav, are Ham Hill "Hamdon hill" and Cadbury Castle "South Cadbury".
Have posted a few pix on my groups page at Yahoo " look for 'caradog'" and on the Megalithic portal
