Thank you for that Rhiannon, no one seems to have done anything on our spoons, also forgot to say this morning, my 'friend' (don't know who he is except that he lives below the Midridge) on Flickr, has been photographing the demise of Southgate, apparently there are 10 archaeologists from Museum of London there, could be a roman road coming up, which I presume would mean a bridge there to..

coo so then that's always been the point where the bridge was? It's really interesting to wonder where the roads came into the city too.

Also I like to think of the stones for stonehenge allegedly being paddled up the river past here! but that'll have to stay the stuff of imagination.

I don't feel very excited by the thought of a new shopping centre. I quite liked the style of the old one, and I really liked the multi storey car park. But then I have got architectural opinions at odds with the majority, so it seems. But if it means there's the very rare opportunity to get at what's under the ground here, then that's good. I think there was something in the latest 'council news' but I can't remember what it was saying - we'll have to keep an eye out
