I am a MA novice ,without doubt, but my chosen places were...

1.Maiden Castle
2.Golden Cap....my beloved pooch was knackered by the time I started to sip my pint of Palmers at the pub at Seatown.
3.The Medway megaliths..well in one afternoon it can be ambitious for a spaniel.

I suppose I am a 'Born Again MA'. I decided to get myself a new 'old' dog from a local rescue home and at the same time found this site while looking for places to take him for walks, re-awakening a dormant interest I have had since I was a boy.
My three favourite sites must be:-
1. Avebury
2. West Kennet Longbarrow
3. Stanton Drew

I am still to visit many sites and so this list may change in time.

:o)

Chris

We take our Springer regularly around the following 3 Iron Age Hill Forts

1. Wychbury
2. Bury Ditches
3. Caer Caradoc

Our four legged follower has been to plenty of sites in Ireland, inside Loughcrew Cairn T, Ballynoe stone circle, Haroldstown Dolmen, Knockeen Dolmen, Browneshill Dolmen, Fourknocks, Ballynageeragh Dolmen, Maeve's Cairn and Carrowmore, thats about all I can think of at the moment but there's a few more. Wonder who the best travelled dog on TMA is?

At the bottom edge of the photo, two paws sticking up, as Moss rolls in sheer delight to be out wandering.....

My German Shepheards ... living in Avebury ... does that make them Kraute Rock Samplers?

Rex, my beloved companion, doesn't get on with other dogs and I am sure he would like to make a meal of the odd farm animal also (which is terrible for a collie x) and therefore he is kept on a long lead during walks, unless we are completely isolated.
Where do you guys think is a good place within 30 miles of north west wiltshire, that is isolated so I can let Rex off his lead and still see some interesting archaeology?

A sudden memory-jog...has anyone ever heard the myth that black dogs are attracted to BA and IA sites ?
