Well - I just meant Smithills actually. I've not even identified a proper stone circle there yet, just a collection of stone rows. It's best not to make too close plans a week away, but may try for the moonset on the 8th (11 47) from Burnt Edge and either of the moonrises from the tiny row on Counting Hill. It's very strong for me in Bolton as I'm pretty sure my ancestors put the darn things up. As there was seven or ten days inserted in the calendar in the eighteenth century (it doesn't matter when it was) Samhain, which is the point exactly halfway between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice, is on Sunday November 5th - this year. I want a sunrise photograph down the Thurstones stone row then, as the sun should rise from behind a round hill on the distant horizon.
