I won't be able to remind you as I'll be at the stonehenge of the north - with a camera.

Sounds intriguing. Do you have a theory?
Which henge? They're too far apart to check them all.

A while back, Four Winds talked about loads of people going to different sites on significant days to check out alignments. If there are any, its the best chance they'll ever be recognised.

I had hoped to check a stone row or two in Cork over last night and tonight but things went awry in work, made it to Castlelanaght last night but it was well after moonrise. Lovely to stand out in a field in the middle of nowhere in the moonlight beside those monsterous stones though!

I'm going to be in Clare this evening so dont know of any lunar shennanigans with the monuments of the Burren but will be taking more moonlight pics anyway. If anyone can think of a place in the Clare/Limerick area they suspect a lunar connection I'd love to check it out.

Well - I just meant Smithills actually. I've not even identified a proper stone circle there yet, just a collection of stone rows. It's best not to make too close plans a week away, but may try for the moonset on the 8th (11 47) from Burnt Edge and either of the moonrises from the tiny row on Counting Hill. It's very strong for me in Bolton as I'm pretty sure my ancestors put the darn things up. As there was seven or ten days inserted in the calendar in the eighteenth century (it doesn't matter when it was) Samhain, which is the point exactly halfway between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice, is on Sunday November 5th - this year. I want a sunrise photograph down the Thurstones stone row then, as the sun should rise from behind a round hill on the distant horizon.

It's a bit like playing the lottery, only the rewards are greater. There's also an unusual round feature that's shown up on an aerial image, to investigate, that I was rude to tuesday about. It could be Smithills first proper stone circle but is more likely to be a low mound - it's perfectly circular and lost in long grass. Also, after slamming Badly's latest waxing, I've found that one of the songs has lodged in my mind.
