Work are sending me to Malta for a couple of days in December. We're gonna be looking at hotels for part of the time but should have some scope to check out some prehistory. I think we're gonna be up Gozo way, any must sees?

Cor! Lucky you! I think you have to book in advance to get to some of the tombs, don't you?

Probably OT but check out the stuff left by the Knights Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem. They held many estates in Lancashire during the mediaeval period and Malta was one of their strongholds. They were into stone in a big way - but it wasn't stones as we know them, rather tightly mortared fortifications. Still stone !

I've been away so have just read your post.
Trump's Malta- Prehistory and Temples is an invaluable guide to both Malta and Gozo it's probably all you'll need, it's small anough to carry around and won't break the bank.
I would also recommend that you book a tour of the Hypogeum as soon as possible, to miss it would be a tragedy.
