OK, but before this gets out of hand
Relax! No-ones smirking at the back (
ok, stop it you two!!) :) At least you weren't pretending, no
actually believing, that you were eating the body and blood of some guy who died 2000 years ago, that would be bizarre! Yet hundreds of thousands do it weekly here, and are delighted to send their kids up too! The ceremony on Saturday night was quite charming in comparison and when you think about it, a teeny bit more productive when you think its intention was to protect the valley instead of hoping that a supreme being will actively get involved in your weight loss programme or help johnny pass his exams.
The funny bit really was when he directed everybody to face the camera man who was impudently standing in the western direction, felt like a right tool!
the article Horgan was researching is about his struggle with atheism. He has been ordained as a reverend in the Chruch Triumphant of the Apathetic Agnostic – motto: Don't know, don't care. I tend to agree with them. On the other hand, Con Connor believed there was a blanket there and he's entitled to his opinion. It was his gig. I wasn't going to disabuse him. Had I got the bottle, nay the cheek (or even a tripod), I'd have bailed out of that circle as quick as you did.
Druidic ceremonies: Been there, done that, got the chest infection… cough, splutter. :-)
Maybe I was standing too far back but it seemed more like sincere symbolism rather than actual belief that a blanket existed, maybe I picked it up worng. He definitely belived in them there spirals in the earth though.
