ooh one little word.. what I meant was 'alternative'? as opposed to some dry old collection of facts and figures as put forward by The Establishment. But fluffy was quicker. I own the book, for goodness' sake. And surely I am tma's queen of fluff?! so it wasn't meant in a bad way. I'm all for Independent Thought, god knows. It's also nice to base things on more than wishful thinking sometimes though innit.

mmm...

Hi, Rhiannon,

Personally, I think Dames' does a great job; not just in placing the Hill in context of art and some spiritual continuity, but for a credible explanation of Silbury and it's "moat" as a unified entity in a landscape of meaning. To me, the "moat" is just as imporant as the hill (but don't tell EH that, or they'll want to munch it too). Lately, I have been considering a tattoo (non-Edinburgh).......
I found his book over here in Wellington placed in the "New Age" section; needless to say, the bibliophilic (self)righteous mendicant that is your humble scribe placed it firmly in the "Archaeology" bit across the shop!

Happy Trainspotting
