The spinning ferry http://www.skyeferry.co.uk/ is so much nicer though, but involves a well hairy twisty incline to get there.

After an extensive civil disobedience campaign the Skye bridge is now toll free.

The wonderful little island that the first part of the bridge support rests on is where Gavin Maxwell wrote Ring of Bright Water.

Which, as we all know, is second only to Bambi in making strong men weep
