Sorry, I'll start again - too much red wine.
What we need is an English-Gaelic phrasebook. Knowing the words is fine, but each word can have different meaning, especially in certain contexts. A pronunciation guide would help too. I know a bit about pronunciation due to my time in the Scottish mountains, but most people are put off by not knowing how to start saying the words.

A common problem is hearing the same word pronounced by gaelic speakers from different areas a hill example such as Buachaille is usually heard like bookill but heard on Lewis it is something quite different . There was a CD of hill names available with some Munro book a few years ago but don't know if that is still available.

That would be a English-Irish or English/Gaelic Dictionary with phonetics :-)
