Agreed, that is why I said "will/may never know". If someone does find out so much the better, but until then I will not let it get to me and stop my enjoyment of the place.
Art is different, as it is completely subjective , but I do wonder why Picasso or Dali, or and of the other come to that , painted what they did. It is all food for thought.

Is art different though? The stone circles could have been 'modern' art when they were erected. :-)

My reference to art was to demonstrate a particular mindset, not to compare the two subjects.

The fun thing about thinking one of us might get the answer one day is that when that person does so we won't know it's correct!
