Facilities again

cheers for that....

I think what wolfy meant was that B&Bs are a bit different to museums!

Quite a lot of portable RA is held captive in such places, not to mention carved balls, bits of gold, cremation pots etc... they are actually the present location of some of these things, although of course not where they were originally found.

When planning a visit to a new area it would be dead handy having the knowledge that there's a museum with good megalithic shit in it not far away.

I do see what you mean, museums being 'on-topic' and B&Bs being 'off-topic'. However, it still doesn't seem like a great idea to have museums in there with the sites. Sites being sites, and museums hosting finds from the sites. TMA is quite amenable to having the locations of lost sites included (preferably with "(Destroyed)" or ("Site of") included in the site's title). Maybe there's a middle ground here that could be adequately explored. But, having 'Museum' as a site type would be open to misuse and abuse.

When you plan a trip you presumably look at a specific selection of sites (that's what I do). The facilities drop-down menu is a good way to find facilities that are near a site (within 20k) but if a relevant museum is further away, surely it's up to us lot to make the connection.

An obvious example is Bryn Celli Ddu, from which one stone has been taken and put on display in Cardiff:

Inspired by this thread I've added a link to the relevant TMA facility page. The only snag is that it loads in a new window. Otherwise I'd have said it's a reasonable solution to the problem.
