What about making your own drawing or sketch of an original drawing or sketch?....(interesting thought)

I am still unsure, i have a access to a vast collection of older material over 100 years old linked to my subject, i always assumed that aslong as you give credit to the person who owned the copyright when you post the picture or drawing then you would be okay.

still thinking..........

There are some grey lines around plans etc. If you copy a drawing of a plan or sketch (of rock art say) and you place "After [insert name of original artist]" then it seems to be ok. A curious and probably grey area. No one has ever complained about my use of old images and redrawn plans on megalithomania.

If you're drawing from an original then you sign it but qualify it by adding 'after so and so'. This kak icon is copied from a Joni Mitchell album cover so it's 'after J. Mitchell' (if anyone asks). Also remember KLF - Kopyright Liberation Front. They made so much money, once, that they had to burn some of it.

Drawing your own sketch is fine and putting "after Joe Bloggs" is the right thing to do. I do it a lot. However - shite hits fan if you make anything other than a very rough sketch from an OS map
