oh and ps - alan garner seems to have a similar understanding of a very specific locale as you - alderley edge of course but ''thursbitch' is about the psychic history of one valley - i think the etymology of that means 'valley of the demon' or something - and 'red shift' centres on mow cop - an iron age fort - 'the owl service' on another valley in west wales - and a particular holed stone. i remember there being a stone circle on alderley edge although i think it may be modern and tumuli and straight tracks feature in his first two books. and he is descended from stone masons too....
