oh lord - and i know that place so well - although mainly from dreams now - i haven't been there in person since I learned to smoke.

do you know this?:

I live near 'Tothill' Fields now - thought to be an ancient sacred hill adjacent to the springs and the lost Westbourne and Tyburn rivers

But the whole little landscape around Halliwell is strange - the steep sided valley around temple lane and the lake at the bottom and the wood at the bottom of harpers lane. did you see the holywell?

Hmm, I learned to smoke in a park in Liverpool - good place to begin bad habit. I know the Holy Well, or rather what is passed as the Holy Well nowadays. I had put a wooden peg at the place where the original well was shown on the very old O.S. This is by the roadside opposite Croft Cottage, on Barrow Bridge Road. The peg is gone now - drain work - but I suppose I could put another one there. A new photograph of the wellhead wouldn't go amiss either. The ground levels have changed in many places around there, due to the bleachworks. I remember the ponds unused and full of frogs. The reservoir below Toothill has some big fish. There was a proposal to drain it that was luckily shelved. I think the free festival that was held in Moss Bank Park would have been much better on the St. Paul's playing fields - but we didn't know about the place then. And - watch out - there's a Full Moon coming. 'In Cancer too', so it'll be a strong one (to the bunker).
