I was thinking more of an average speed of 80mph with only two stops for urination and driver swapovers! Very norty! You can get a hell of a speed up on the A9 at night though!

Tsk! 80mph on an 'A' road? Dizzzzgrazeful! ;o)

I had a thought of flying up from Southampton, which is all well and good up until Edinburgh - £22 per person! But from there to Stornoway, it's over £200! And so's hiring a car! And then there's the ferry if we hire a car, and we'd have to hire one on the island anyway, just to get about (the place we rent is VERY remote!)...

So we're back to plan A - me driving..! Unfortunately, at this present time, Mrs G can't help out, but to be honest, I love the journey up there. We'll no doubt find somewhere nice to stop on the way up and back.

Also, the place we wanted to book is fully booked for the July full moon, so we're going up in June now! Gah! But at least we'll miss the Scottish school holidays. Booked it yesterday... 10th - 17th June. So hopefully we'll do our usual stop in Moulin and be calling upon Bigsweetie to see if he wants to come out to play!

Hoorah! Now all I need to do is persuade my colleague that he doesn't REALLY want the following week off as well as me and I'm sorted!

G x!

I did Rogart (near Lairg - NE side Scotland) to Chesham in 10 hours, only me driving and I think 1 or 2 wee stops... When we went to and from Skye in May 05 we split the journey both ways - wanted to drive during daylight to see the country en-route ... glad we did...it was a lot longer/slower than it was getting to Lairg.

We're doing Orkneys 26th May - 2nd June and Skye 2nd - 10th June this year. Will fit in a couple of days on Lewis again in the second week. . . :-)
