I've been looking through my slides and altho I resisted going digital for a long time I still think digi has a long way to go.
The expense of shooting on slide film is what eventualy won me over but in hind sight I do have regrets.
I have lost more than a few photo sales because the quality of digital is not good enough.
I once sold a slide of a single white cloud in a blue sky for 8K as it could be blow up to billboard size.

Looking at my 10 X 8 slides I am hoping it won't be too long before we start to see 1gig-a-pixel+ cameras.

That's the way forward man Mr W.

Never mind getting a new DSLR, get a USB powered scanner, lug it and a laptop out to the RA, turn it upside down, bob's yer uncle...

Direct scanography of rock art is the way forward I tell you! Just because it probably won't work is a poor reason not to be unreasonably attached to the idea ;)
