How old are yew?

At 56 feet and if the girth/age estimate method holds up, it must be almost a post glacial original! Now there's a thought.

What about copicing? I know the Yew is not a tree we would associate with this but if it had been cut back at an earlier age would it not now by wider than if it had been left togrow natural? or am I talking rubbish!
