The mould idea probably came from the fact that it was in the same excavation pit as a beaker used for pouring molten metals.

I couldn't help but think that whacking a die onto the soft bronze would be an easier/more efficient way to make the kind of artifacts that 'mould' would have produced. Similar to the way that was once used to mint coins. Also, making such objects in a mould would create a lot of waste in the form of the sprue.
