you'd have loved what we encountered on the West Highland Way last year - came round a corner on a hill, path just wide enough for 2 people (or, say, a cow), sheer drop down one side, sheer cliff up the other, and a herd of cows stuck because they'd followed the path to a stile. luckily I once worked on a cattle farm, so with a bit of manouvering I turned the cows round and sent them on their way. you'd have loved it Jamie!
