When I posted the original message about the skull and crossbones, I have to say I didn't think it would prompt this number of replies. Thank you all for your input. I'll have to do more research on the Templar thing - I think that was something I saw on another internet site.

Of particular interest to me would be why the Tipperary carvings look so benign, almost like little Smilies??
