That's the question.

No, no. Moving to the country isn't the answer. If it were, the farmers we meet that pull the stones out would be semi-divine beings - they're not at all. We need that intense social interaction that occurs in cities to keep our minds sharp (or something like that).

A disconnected snippet from Fat Dudley, whom I saw this morning. Jesus had children and has descendants somewhere. There's some weird stuff about the kings of France - the Meringians or something - and this factor (married with kids) was the central premise of many gnostic cults - Knights Templar eg. He's read it in a book 'so it must be true'. I remember a magic realist novel by Tom Robbins called Another Roadside Attraction which had a similar theme.
