"Is it any wonder that we cannot remember a time when this world was not at war"

Don't tell me you're one of these pathetic romantics that truly beileve there was a time and place when there was not war and we all lived happily?

Holy fuck! What complete bollocks that is. This is why I speak out so strongly against the 'one happy world under one happy mother goddess' crowd. I do agree that things certainly got a lot worse with the discovery of metal, and that there may have been times of stasis when certain localised groups lived in relative peace, but to think that the world was ever a time when it was not at war? This is what I hate about religion and any talk of "my spirituality being better than yours, so nyer"

It's all crap that divides and tears people apart, feeding the people who desire power and control. People that get their power by alienating others, mainly through race and religion.

There I've said it. 'Their' religion, 'your' spirituality is what allows the evil of mankind to have an excuse. All done in the name of God or whatever.

I've had several emails about this thread from people who don't want to comment on it for precisely this reason. Because they know it will lead to division, they have made an off thread comment and not got involved.

I think you're pretty much right, but according to a few things I've read and seen, there was a v early settlement in South America that they've just found - it's older than Ur but I cannot remember wur it is - and in this settlement there is no evidence of war or defence. It has no defensive structures, no archeology of conflict (love that phrase) and it was around for over two thousand years. The people even built and maintained a big fire so all the travellers could see them and come in. Seems as if they spent their time making fishing nets in exchange for fish, and beads in exchange for magic herbs. They were too chilled to invent and evolve - no wheel, no pottery, and it would appear eventually they all drifted away into more advanced places along the coast. So it's nice to know it did happen, for a while, even if it's not there any more.
I'll find you some proper info on this fairy story, when I can. Take it on trust today :)

Wow!! Take a chill pill dude 8o) I long to a time of peace throughout the world, if that makes me a romantic so be it.

As far as your "Mother Goddess" stiffy.... I have no formed opinion on that matter. I refer to nature as mother... she feeds me, she clothes me and she nutures me.

If I've come off as saying that my spirituality is better than yours I am truly sorry and of course that would be a load of shit. It is just that I have spent years, I wont say a lifetime because I was highly rational for 30 years, being one of the few who believes in what cannot be proven... it can be a very lonely path and most people who think like me will not talk about it in public because inevitably people will treat them like a nutter. I can see it in this thread! My instinct is to protect the underdog.

I know both sides the rational and the mystic when I want to I can speak both languages... my husband is a scientist. I'm sorry but I don't put a whole lot of weight on the written or chiseld word and I can see how that can be extremely maddening to someone who does.

As for the ones who declined to comment.... I think they missed a great thread and after all this is just people stating thier opinions.... I must admit it requires a tough shell to handle it at times.
Peace Be On Ya Fourwinds 8o)
