The Laidly Worm found at Spindleston Heugh, Bamburgh; Laidly Worm = Loathly Worm = Loathsome dragon. Found in my English Fairy Tales... the compiler Joseph Jacobs, says that the story probably originated in 6th C from the Welsh. Based on the name of the hero Childe Wynd = Child Owein.
