I thought this was interesting (posting like its 2004).

I think the hunting explanation for this is a bit boring and not in keeping with our understanding of other European megalithic architecture.

If you were going to construct a barrier to "funnel" animals for easier slaughter then you would save lots of time by building a wooden fence or pallisade. Unless the practical use was secondary to its greater symbolic purpose.
