Less than year ago we had the typically hyperbolic “What we are starting to see is the largest surviving stone monument, preserved underneath a bank, that has ever been discovered in Britain and possibly in Europe,” said Vince Gaffney, an archaeologist at Bradford University who leads the Stonehenge Hidden Landscape project. “This is archaeology on steroids.”

“Archaeology on steroids “ more like laughing gas or Bucky or yet again “overinterpretation on steroids” .

It is however incredibly exciting that what has been found under the bank is another house at Durrington .

24 hrs later and the house has gone the way of the stones .

One thing looks pretty sure ,there is no " largest surviving stone monument, preserved underneath a bank, that has ever been discovered in Britain and possibly in Europe"

Thats a shame. Although I've been following the blog and was quite surprised when I read they had found a house under the bank.
But theres still a couple of days to go, something exciting might turn up yet.

Edit : I blame the paper in the portaloos.

I think it has been exciting ,they have put to rest the BS in less than a year and uncovered some interesting pits .
