This is close to where I came in. I need to ring Stan up, about those cupmarked stones, in that valley. I've still not counted them - I'm proud to say.

Somewhere, back around the time of that thread (and I've searched back quite closely) was a link to a white witch in Northumberland who was using a holed stone for some of her ceremonies. There was some discussion of the corn circlers about that time as well...

Can anyone either find that link or name that stone ? I wonder *how many* holed stones are known in the country ? Is the twelve I've found in Bolton (three are broken) a large number ? I think I know what they were *for* (selling chisels) but doubt anybody would accept that explanation.

Sorry for subverting this thread - I'll post an image of one of my cupmarked stones, from the Knar, after this machine has been overhauled...
