Also read years ago in a Michael Dames book on Ireland (so the story may have been stretched slightly) that they took cartloads of bones out of Lough Gur in the 19th century, think they were oxen bones and presumably sacrifical/feasting I/A stuff.
It was quite a good 'coffee table book' but can't remember the title.....
