The only problem I had was some lunatic from [insert location-based megalithic blog name here] pretending to be someone I know and commenting on photos of my very young son. That was why I removed myself initially. Otherwise, it really is just people I know and like.

The marketing is an interesting aspect of FB though - removing someone from your "Friends" list is known as "de-friending", which soulds rather terminal to me. People take it REALLY personally! I couldn't give a monkeys, and certainly don't see it as a reflection of my real world relationships with people. A bit of perspective is what's required with these things.
